An Overview of the Syberad Calculator The Syberad Calculator is a unique and highly flexible tool for completing numerical calculations, plotting graphs and functions and analyzing statistics. What types of calculation can I complete? Unlike hand-held calculators which require data entry to be made by a keypad, the Syberad Calculator also allows you to type your calculation in the same way as you would enter text in a word processor. This is faster, more convenient and allows easy editing. Here’s an example:
You can also calculate unknown values by substituting a question mark in place of the unknown value like this:
The Syberad Calculator also supports named variables in calculations, for example:
If you want to store your calculation, you can do this to a named file or you can copy it to the history pane like so:
If you want to repeat a calculation a number of times (a so-called iterative calculation), you can do this by entering the formula to iterate and then answering the dialogue boxes that display when you click the ‘Iterate’ button:
The Calculator also allows you to convert quantities and to insert physical constants from a library of commonly used conversion factors and values The Syberad Calculator is supplied with a number of scientific and financial functions, together with full user instructions, that you can use and customize. Calculations can be saved to file and printed. Plotting Graphs and Functions The Syberad Calculator plots graphs and functions from data you enter or import from a standard comma delimited ASCII file, which you can then print and save to file: An example of a coordinates data plot

You can also add error-bars to your data:
And fit data to a line function (ie. regression line-fitting):
Or plot your data as a bar-chart that is fully customizable:
And can also add text labels to charts.
Analyzing Statistics The Syberad Calculator can evaluate the mean, mode, and median average as well as the standard deviation and confidence interval for data you enter or import from a standard comma delimited ASCII file. Results and data can then be either printed or saved to file:
Calculated results are displayed in the ‘Statistics’ Pane:
Changing the display You can customize the color of the Calculator and change the font size; this is especially useful if you want to display the Calculator in projected presentations. Schools and colleges will find this feature useful. |
